Obituary

Felicia was a lovingly beautiful, honest, strong, caring, religious, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was also a dear sister, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend. She was born in Lahaina, Maui, HI on June 1st, 1924, one of 16 children to Magdalino and Raimunda Quinones. At a very young age, she and her family moved to Cebu, Philippines before WWII. She would tell stories about growing up in the Philippines during the Japanese invasion. The family lived in the hot & humid jungles. They were moving constantly to avoid the Japanese, before finally being liberated by the Americans. In her early 20's, she moved back to Hawai'i, settling on the island of Lana'i' with 2 older sisters as well as a sister just a couple of years younger. She found her calling to care for others and became a nurse's aide at a local hospital. In time, she earned her Licensed Practical Nursing status. In 1949, Felicia met and married Zach Viloria on September 24th. They were blessed with a son, Glenn Richard, the following year. Shortly after, the young couple and son moved to Wahiawa, O'ahu, HI, to live with her father-in-law in a 1 bedroom housing apartment in the Dole plantation town of Whitmore Village, just outside of Wahiawa. There, Felicia continued to work as an LPN for Kaiser Hospital while Zach joined the Carpenter's Union as an apprentice. They were blessed with a little girl, Debra Ann, on October 5, 1953. The family then relocated to Ewa Beach, where their son, Robert Zacarias, was born on June 28, 1955. The family then moved back to Whitmore Village. Felicia worked for Kaiser for several years while Zach went to work overseas in Kwajalein. Felicia became an independent mother of three for over 10 years. They worked hard and finally was able to purchase their first 2 bedroom, 1 bath home north of the housing area. She worked hard and helped earn enough money to move the little house further back of their property and built a bigger house on what one would consider "stilts" in the front side. That left a 2 vehicle carport underneath the raised home. Then, in 1963, due to the personal need to be home with her children, she opened the first care 24/7 Care Home business in Whitmore. She tirelessly cared for over 8 State Hospital patients over a 13 year span. Again, through hard work, a lower brick addition was added to the wooden house, to make a completed 2 story home for her family and patients. Her devotion, determination, and dedication to her family & business, helped to ensure that her family would never do without. In 1976, she decided to close her care home once her children were all grown and on their own. Felicia continued to enjoy life on O'ahu and briefly returned to nursing. Her caring nature made her want to open another care home. Her dream came true when she relocated to the mainland to live with her daughter, Debbie, in California. Together, they started a care home business in San Jose, CA. There, Felicia was again caring for elderly clients 24/7. She loved to cook, clean, and enjoyed being needed. However, in 1981, due to her daughter's health, the home was closed and Felicia returned to her beloved Hawai'i. She returned to nursing at Waimano Hospital. Again, she enjoyed working with the mentally challenged. Eventually, Felicia moved to Tracy, California, to be with Debbie and family in 1983, while her husband continued to work overseas. While living in the central valley, she enjoyed traveling and sightseeing all over California. But she mostly loved her weekend trips to Lake Tahoe and Reno, NV. Sometimes, when family came into town, she would proudly drive her white Toyota Van the 4 hours (each way) to Lake Tahoe for some fun. Felicia was always a busy body, never one to lounge around. So, she took a job at the McDonald's in Tracy. She proudly donned her uniform, even taking a couple of pictures to capture her experience there. She also joined a Senior bowling league and was known to many as "Fifi". Besides caring for her family, Felicia made many friends, young and old, some who called her "Fifi" and many who called her "mom"...... By 1989, Zach had since retired and moved to California to be with her. In early 1990, they purchased a mobile home in Oxnard, CA and lived there for almost 4 years with her younger sister and her husband. Both enjoyed fishing off the pier. In 1994, they sold the mobile home and moved to Las Vegas, NV, where Debbie and her family relocated to. In 1999, the family threw a surprise 50th Wedding Anniversary in the Maili ballroom at the California Hotel. That September afternoon, their three children took them to have family photos professionally done. Then they were to meet at the Cal for a big family dinner at a local restaurant. Both Felicia and Zach were unaware that other family members were decorating the ballroom. After the photo shoot, they arrived at the hotel and took the elevator up to the 2nd floor. Upon reaching the top, Felicia and Zach turned left to see their immediate family standing at a closed double doorway. The oldest son, Glenn, turned a standing sign around, reading "Happy Anniversary Felicia & Zach" and the doors opened to show family members from California, Hawaii, and New Mexico, greeting them. Felicia started crying in disbelief as Zach turned around in the other direction! Both were so shocked & surprised, yet extremely happy. Their children were proud to have actually pulled this wonderful surprise for such deserving parents! Felicia continued to make friends wherever she went...especially at the Fiesta Casino, where both she and Zach enjoyed playing Pai Gow with their circle of friends. In 2010, due to health issues, they moved to an Assisted Living Facility in Santa Ana, CA. They were now living closer to their youngest son, Bob, and their daughter-in-law, Debbie (yes, another Debbie). They were well taken care of by both Debbie & Bob, eventually moving to an even better ALF in Fountain Valley the following year. Daughter-in-law Debbie, visited them every day, making sure that they were doing well! Seeing her daily...a familiar face...a family member...helped them adjust to their new surroundings. Well, Felicia did adjust somewhat, but she would have her good days and bad. Her health slowly deteriorated and in 2012, she was hospitalized. Family members gathered, thinking that she wouldn't make it due to what the doctor had told them. But she pulled through and was back at the ALF after a week in rehab. In 2013, Zach passed suddenly. Felicia continued to reside at and was cared for by the staff at the ALF in Fountain Valley. Daughter-in-law, Debbie, played a huge part in caring for her daily as well. Felicia passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 23rd, 2015, just 7-1/2 weeks after her 91st birthday. Felicia Quinones Viloria lived a long, full, and beautiful life the best she knew how. She left a legacy that taught her children, their families, and many others, about how to live....(<--note changes here) to make the most of every day; to work hard and earn what you want in life; to be honest and responsible for yourself; to laugh and enjoy what you have; to count your blessings for you'll find that you have more than enough; to always have Faith in the Lord; and much, much, more. But mostly, Felicia loved her family, unconditionally, and worked hard to be the woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother she could possibly be. And she definitely was and will always be loved & remembered for that!
