1922-2015
Irene Clement Danielson, RN, passed away peacefully shortly after her 93rd birthday.
Born on January 15, 1922, Irene was the youngest of seven children in a large and loving Augusta, Kansas family. She thrived on the attention, lessons and influences of her five older sisters (especially Mabel), who modeled a longed for career in the medical field. Following a move to California in 1940, Irene became a Registered Nurse in 1945. Two years later, she joined the US Navy at the School for Aviation Medicine, in San Antonio, Texas, studying under Dr. Werner Von Braun. In 1949 she met and married her beloved "Danny," Dr. Robert Danielson, while working as a Navy flight nurse. Blessed with two sons, Robert Jr. in 1950 and John in 1953, during her 62 years of marriage, Irene worked hard at the office and at home. While raising two active boys, she helped to build a busy general practice in Coronado. After moving to the Bay Area in 1957, the family lived in Westlake, and then Mountain View, before settling in Los Altos for 26 years. She always found time for friends and traveled with Danny to Europe, the British Isles, China, Russia, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. The couple moved to the Terraces of Los Gatos in 1999.
One minute the life of the party and the next a serious medical advocate, Irene loved people, family, friends, babies, music, movies, lady bugs, the color red, sun flowers, her home and world travel. Irene will be infinitely missed, and ever remembered, by her son, Robert W. Jr., daughter-in-law, Jacqueline C., and precious niece, Roberta Irene Myles Markey, along with countless friends.
