Joseph Leo Avila Jr., age 77, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

After serving in the United States Air Force, Joseph worked for the City of San Jose for 17 years and then proceeded to work for the City of Sunnyvale for 32 years as a Transportation Engineer. He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and generous friend.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Hortensia; his six children: Jessica, Rachel, Erick, Michael, Michele, and Daniele; ten grandchildren: Victoria, Cora, Yonas Joseph, Jason, Jacqueline, Jacob, Alexis, Ashley, Antoinette, and Nicholas; and three great grandchildren: Jayla, Elias, and Jordan.
