Obituary

Kathleen Tripp (2/21/54-4/26/23) & Michael Tripp (10/4/52-12/12/23)

Mike and Kathy Tripp were lifelong residents of Kingsford, MI. They were high school sweethearts who married on July 15, 1971. After 51 years of marriage, they passed away in 2023, just seven months apart.

Kathleen Tripp was born to Louis and Gertrude Povolo in February 1954, and she was the third of their four children. Kathy worked as a pharmacy technician for many years but retired from her favorite job as a preschool bus driver. She enjoyed cross-stitching baby blankets for all the new arrivals and expressed her love through cooking. Kathy often said that her grandchild kept her feeling young.

Michael Tripp was born to Darlene Tripp in October 1952. Unfortunately, Darlene passed away when Mike was only twelve. He was then adopted by his grandparents, William and Eleanor Tripp. After their passing, he lived with his brother's family, who welcomed him as one of their own. Mike was known for his infectious smile and laughter but had a fiercely competitive side, especially when it came to playing cards, particularly cribbage.  He was always there to support his family, even being ordained as a minister to marry his oldest granddaughter.

Mike worked for Bink's Coca-Cola for 41 years, during which he developed a love for travel. He was a top seller and won trips for him and Kathy to the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, and their favorite destination, Kauai, Hawaii. Even in retirement, when they returned to Hawaii to visit the other islands, Mike and Kathy missed the unique feeling of Kauai.

They are survived by 3 children, Crystal (Robert) Grandahl, Traci (James Matthew) Garlitz, and Eric (Kay) Tripp; 11 grandchildren Stephanie (Tom) Zellner, Garrett (Cassie) Gollakner, Cassie (Cody) Porath, Courtney Grandahl, Sydney Garlitz, Alana Garlitz, Molly Tripp, and Mara Tripp.  They had 9 great-grandchildren Wynston, Shaunee, Finley, Piper, and Hudson Zellner; Henry and Elain Gollakner; and Avery and Maverick Porath who will never know the depth of their love.

Kathleen Tripp is survived by 3 siblings, Dennis (Kathy) Povolo, Julie (Jack) Panchari, and Marsha Gordon with countless nieces and nephews who will miss her party pasties.

Michael Tripp is survived by 3 half-sisters, Sheri Liesch (Keith), Shelly (Rupert) Brown, and Kim Dommer, and his extended family Joe (Linda) Tripp, Donald (Jackie) Tripp, Cindy (Ken) Rudd, Suzanne McMahon, Bonnie (Dion) Tarsi, Sally (Dan), Joe (Debbie) Tripp, Marijane Tripp and many more nieces and nephews that forever miss their "Uncle Mike".
