Obituary

Linda Lowry
Linda Ann Lowry, 77, of Spokane, WA, passed away peacefully in Spokane on October 4, 2025. She was a cherished mother, wife, sibling, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and close friend to many. She will be deeply missed.

Linda was born on June 1, 1948, in York, PA, to Charles and Ruth Humer. She was the youngest of three children, following her sister, Anita, and her brother, Ron.

Linda was a talented fine artist who attended Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, PA, on a full scholarship. She studied painting and drawing and met a group of women she remained close to throughout her life. In Philly, Linda met the late Deane Yamane, a photographer and surfer. They married in 1968 in Honolulu, HI, and had three children, Andrew, Sasha, and Lauren.

Linda was drawn to the company of other artists, traveling the world, and being with family. In 1989 in Hawaii, she married her current husband William "Bill" Lowry, a glass blower and woodworker, and they relocated to Spokane with her daughter, Lauren. Following a creative's unconventional path, Linda's wanderlust ignited a 20-year travel photography business, Linda Lowry PhotoGraphics. It combined two of her biggest and most defining passions, travel and photography, and focused mainly on Europe. Always ready (and packed in advance) for her next adventure with Bill, Linda meticulously created itineraries of sites to photograph the more off the beaten path, the better. Locally, Linda did the Pacific Northwest art show circuit. She and Bill packed their van with her photos to sell. Linda loved being a part of the Spokane art community, and in 2003, she was one of the founding members of Avenue West Gallery, an artist cooperative, where she displayed and sold her photographs.

Linda is survived by her husband of 35 years, Bill Lowry; her three children, Andrew (Nicki) Yamane, Sasha (Rick) Reichart, and Lauren Yamane; grandchildren, Kaela Yamane and Kian Yamane; two stepchildren, Chris (Marianne) Lowry and Kirsta Thayer; grandchildren Christopher Thayer and Brittany Hogue (their families); and numerous nieces and nephews.
