Obituary

Born in Duesseldorf and grew up as a local girl.
Her grand- parents had the first taxi company in Duesseldorf, and her mother was the first women drive in Germany.
Margareta had 2 brothers Gerd and Manfred. Gerd passed away several years ago.

Margareta served for the German army as a nurse during World War Two and took care of blind soldiers. She was considered a hero surviving and safeguarding her group of blind soldiers during a terrible bomb attack in Wuerzburg by the British. The hospital was completely destroyed and her group survived thanks to my mother guiding them into som mountain caves surrounding the hospital.

A year before her passing she had the chance to visit Wuerzburg and was celebrated as a hero by local media.

My mother was able to feed her starving family during the war playing in accordeon in a music band taking food for a salary.

My mother was married to Heinz-Georg in 1951. She had two children, Juergen (me) born on December 57  and Ute, born in August 61. She met Heinz-Georg in Duesseldorf, and they would have been married 65 years and she would have turned 90 on October 27, 2016, 12 days after her passing.  She was looking forward to this day, so we had an extended family gathering on this day celebrating her life instead.

My mother loved to travel, and Hawaii was her favorite place. She visited Hawaii often and enjoyed the Aloha Spirit and loved bus drivers would ask for her ID when she tried to purchase a senior citizen ticket.

My mother always looked a lot younger than she was- and this kept her young.
She was full of life and energy. She pent hours on Facebook until the month before she passed.
My mother was truly a well educated, lovable person.

Wherever she went, she spread positive energy.
