Obituary

"Bobby" was born on September 26, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri to Bill and Louise Ready.  Two years later her sister, JoAnn Kelley, was born and between military life and The Depression there were many moves around the US and lots of stories to go with the many places they lived.  It also explains her love of travel.

Shortly after WWII she met and married Capt. Byron D. Allen, Jr.  Together they had their three children, Kathi, Fran and Byron II.  Sadly they divorced in 1960, but neither remarried.

Bobby had a long and satisfying career as a personnel classifier for DOD at the Pentagon.  She also had the opportunity to take a post in Wiesbaden, Germany for five years from 1966 to 1971.  While there she was really able to do a lot of the traveling she so loved.

After retirement she moved to Binghamton, NY in 1983.   She bought a cute house and was around the corner from her sister.  She became part of the community there by serving at her church and also with the local symphony.  She transformed her home into a beautiful expression of everything she loved most.

In late summer 2014 poor health really began to creep in and she made the really tough decision to close up the house and move to Houston, TX with her daughter.   The following months were filled with wonderful moments and sad ones too.  On Thursday, February 5, 2015 Bobby left this world and is now at peace with her Lord.  Her passing has left a large whole in our world which all of us – her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister, nieces, nephews and many friends will have to find a way remember her unique nature.  But we shall see her again.

Her desire to have her ashes scattered in Hawaii stemmed from a movie that she saw.  In The Descendants the final scene has the family committing their mother's ashes in the waters off Waikiki.  She said that was certainly what she wanted for herself.  So, here we are to grant her final wish.

Our wish is to return here often to visit this amazing place, and her.
