Obituary

Sandra Lynne Whitlock passed away on June 27, 2016 surrounded by loved ones at the age of 57.  Affectionately known to friends and family alike as Sandy, she was born Sandra Lynne Whitlock on August 2, 1958 in Frankfurt Germany, to the late Franklin C. and Elfriede Whitlock.  She was the third youngest of four daughters, joining her second oldest sister Karen Shelton in Heaven.

Sandy spent her early childhood in Germany and Hawaii before settling in Colorado Springs, where she graduated from Widefield High School in 1976.  In the mid-1980s, Sandy returned to Oahu with her young children while stationed at Hickam Airforce Base - a period often described as one of the best times of her life. Though she moved to Fresno, California in 1990, her heart truly never left Colorado Springs and Hawaii.

Earning an Associates Degree in Anthropology, Sandy worked for more than 20 years at Kaiser Permanente as a Clinical Care Unit Assistant in the Critical Care Unit, alongside nurses and doctors she admired so much - co-workers and friends who would ultimately care for her through her final journey.

A loyal Denver Broncos fan, a self-professed Bon Jovi fanatic and a passionate Chimpanzee enthusiast, Sandy was witty and kind, gentle and sincere, selfless, giving and relentless.  She loved her children fiercely and it was with her grandchildren, who lovingly knew her simply as "Oma," that she was most proud and full of joy.  She also had a remarkable love and patience for her quirky companion dog, Oscar.

Sandy is survived by her daughters Jennifer Lynne Torres and Heather Anne Calandra and son Jeffrey James Williams; oldest sister Helene & husband Don Lasselle and younger sister Liana & husband Brian Barger; sons-in-law Gabriel Torres and Larry Calandra and daughter-in-law Danielle Williams, her five grandchildren, Jayden, Alexander, Maci, Maddox and Riley.  She is also survived by her two nephews Randy & Jim Lasselle and niece Kerri Birdsong.

Sandy will be laid to rest in the waters of the Hawaiian Islands, which will return her to eternal paradise.
