Obituary

Stan was born in Nashua, NH however he lived the majority of his childhood in Pleasantville, New Jersey. He loved to try to fix household items or just open them up to see how they worked. To his mother's dismay he wasn't always able to put them back together. He always knew what he wanted to do as a young boy - aviation was his love. He graduated from High School in 1961. In the summer of that year he joined the Navy for 4 years and soon began learning his trade overseeing airplanes take offs and landings as well as servicing those planes. He traveled to different parts of Europe during his years of service. Stan completed his aviation training after he left the service by going to school at Spartan School of Aeronautics graduating in the late 60's. During this time Stan married and had a daughter, Christina. Stan's career in aviation really took off when he joined United Airlines in 1966. He worked various shifts as a airline mechanic and worked his way up to inspection. He loved aviation and this love manifested into learning how to fly stunt kites. He even started a stunt kite flying team called Bay Area Precision. The five man team competed in several stunt kite competitions. Stan's team and he as an individual flyer scored ribbons and trophies. Even after the sport died out in terms of competitions, Stan continued to enjoy the sport by flying at the local parks - gathering a crowd at times. He loved to show young and old the sport and let them try to fly. He particularly was thrilled when his grandson Jake also took up the sport. Heli flying became more recent sport that Stan took up when he retired in September 2008. He had a variety of heli's that he could fly in the house and outside. Jake again followed in his GP footsteps by learning to fly heli's. Stan so enjoyed it when they could flying together. He was man of MANY WORDS.be it quirky, witty or pointed- the word filter wasn't in his vocabulary...He could strike up a conversation with most anyone! He had what one would call an "educated gift of gab". Stan was always reading and keeping up to date on current affairs, medical discoveries, aviation news, and the WEATHER - boy did he love following the weather either on the net or watching the news! He even had a weather machine on the roof so he could watch the winds and see the temps at any time. Stan was a son, brother, father and husband. He is survived by his current wife of 35 years, LuAnn Mullikin, his sisters Patty Hillegass and Cathy Miles. His daughter Christina Mullikin and grandsons, Devon Bignell and Jake Anderson. Stan will be missed by all of his family and friends. He will be particularly be missed by me, his wife - we didn't have the opportunity to share a retired life together that was to begin in 2015. Stan loved Hawaii and we traveled there many times. His desire was to have his ashes scattered in the ocean therefore Hawaii was the most fitting place to do this. Aloha my love...
